Există două Românii. Nu, nu cele cu „statul paralel” și „statul de drept”. Ci România în care un copil de 12 ani e violat de un nepalez la Călărași și România în care un cetățean asiatic ia o palmă în văzul poliției.

În prima Românie, presa „deontoloagă” scrie câteva rânduri de subsol, între o știre despre horoscop și alta despre rețete de salată orientală. Politicienii se scarpină în ceafă și dau din umeri: „ancheta își urmează cursul”. ONG-urile sunt ocupate cu finanțările externe. Și în timp ce copilul își duce trauma mai departe, publicul află că subiectul e „sensibil” și, prin urmare, mai bine să nu facem valuri.

În a doua Românie, aceeași presă, aceiași politicieni și aceleași ONG-uri se dau cu fundul de pământ: „Xenofobie! Fascism latent! România medievală!”. Se organizează conferințe, talk-show-uri, se fac hashtag-uri. Brusc, fiecare palmă devine tragedie națională, fiecare ridicare de ton – un atentat la democrație.

Deontologia, se pare, funcționează ca guma de mestecat: se întinde și se strânge după caz. Dacă victima e de naționalitate română și are 12 ani, „să nu generalizăm”. Dacă victima e străin și primește o palmă, „România are o problemă structurală de rasism”.

Cine mai crede, în ritmul ăsta, că presa apără adevărul și politicienii protejează oamenii? În realitate, apără doar narațiunea convenabilă. Restul e tăcere.

Because acknowledging the scale and nature of the abuse required admitting that mass migration had imported a culture of predation and violence against young white girls. To say so was deemed racist.
